13. – 19.10.2014 Essaouira, Maroc: clean & clear

clean & clear

mit frisch geschnittenen Haaren / with freshly cut hair : )

Besides the usual activities such as jogging and walking on the beach as well as paying golf and going to the hammam (is hammam an activity? anyway, I sweat!), this week‘s motto was all clean & clear... Once I could see clearly in which illusions I had lost myself, I started a cleanup with myself and my surroundings: I had my hair cut and cleaned my apartment thoroughly! Although it was hard to admit that I had let myself be deceived, I managed to file my painful experience simply as 'experience’ and was happy to be able to change something... with exchanging my thoughts and writing about it, reality started to crystallise out more clearly and I saw what was, not what I wanted to see... Only when being conscious about wanting to see reality as it is, we can change for the better... make the best out of it... At last my energy began to flow again...

We had great weather this week: It was sunny every day (sometimes there was some fog in the morning or evening) with  27 - 32 centigrade during the day and 18 - 23 degrees at night). Of course I had to take advantage of the dream climate with a gentle, cool breeze from the ocean and Iet action follow my thoughts and words... Since discussions with officials remained discussions, I had no choice but become active myself... With Abderrahim (2) I had found a loyal ally that supported me with his spirit and energy... So on Sunday he brought 2 large plastic bags, I bought 100 hygiene gloves and we headed to the beach to collect garbage... We received some encouragements and thanks, but nobody else made use of my gloves! Maybe I can infect others to participate next time? - clean & clear!? Also fitness freaks (there are more than enough here in Essoauira!) could like the idea: Natural tanning & holistic fitness - all in one !!! : )

11. – 13.10.2014 Essaouira, Maroc mit/with Moni: Unsere Magen spielen verrückt / Our stomachs go haywire

Unsere Magen spielen verrückt

Moni, am Strand von / at the beach of Essaouira

The days here in Essaouira with Moni I spent resting a lot, Moni also felt tired and was glad to keep up with sleep. One morning we went for a run along the beach and we even spent an afternoon sun tanning at the beach - which was the first time for me here in Essaouira, also that I stepped into the water up to my bottom!

Moni joined me at the hammam and of course we strolled through the quiet Medina. Unfortunately, I still was not quite fit and had only moderate appetite... but we had to eat something and promptly Moni also caught a stomach upset and vomited her entire last night before she went home. : (

it was nice to have you here!

Actually, I intended to drive Moni to the airport of Marrakech on Monday, but since I still felt too weak, we organized a taxi which picked her up at 1 pm at my home, as agreed upon...

10.10.2014 Erg Lihoudi – Essaouira, Maroc mit/with Moni: Voller Energie nach Essaouira / Full of power to Essaouira

Voller Energie nach Essaouira
Full of power to Essaouira

After having given away all last night, I awoke at daybreak around 7 am with a pumped out stomach and clear thoughts: I had the feeling of a total disillusionment and felt as good as I haven’t for a long time... Not only had my stomach calmed down but also my thoughts and feelings, which were constantly wandering between naive wishful thinking and critical doubts since I am here in Morocco... Only yesterday self-pity had overwhelmed me, when recognizing I had been shamelessly used and Mouad’s words were nothing but empty promises... Of course I was an easy victim after years of deprivation of love and attention in my relationship with my daughter's father - but how could I only be so naive despite my recurring doubts? I always took my concerns seriously though and talked about them with Mouad, but again and again he was able to make me feel safe and assured that everything will be alright, what of course I wanted to believe! Only it didn’t feel good at all to receive less and less affection and being asked for more and more money... And the thought of being used was so painful, that I refused to realize it for too long... But now reality can no longer be ignored and I finally started to talk about my situation with others, so that I finally realized that I had to get out of it!

Biwak / bivouac Daimin, Erg Lihoudi

Shortly after 7 am we had breakfast outside the tent. Although I could not think of food, I drank a lot of tea – to make sure that the water was okay, I had boiled it myself. The morning sky with dark-coloured rainclouds and a small shimmering rainbow accurately reflected my state of mind... Woth Moni and Abderrahim I had two real friends with me, who took care of me with lots of love and understanding and this filled me with a lot of power - many thanks! I felt strong and was able to concentrate on the here and now as well as on looking ahead...

Erg Lihoudi - Tagounite

Thereafter we loaded our belongings into Mouad’s Land Cruiser, left the bivouac Daimin in Erg Lihoudi at 8 am and drove to Tagounite, where we arrived half an hour later. Since Mouad had missed to collect the water in his house, our shower consisted only of a quick rinse of cold water from a tub... not really a problem, because all I wanted was to get away from here as quickly as possible!

At 9 am we started our 10-hours drive of about 700 km to Essaouira. I was full of energy and drove almost non-stop to Agadir: First through the Draa valley to Agdz, then over four passes of the plateau Massa Draa (approx. 1900m) to Taliouine and then through the Souss Delta with its many vegetable and fruit plantations to the coast of Agadir. I had not eaten all day and felt increasingly uncomfortable... after I had bypassed Agadir and we were on the coast road to Essaouira, I accepted Moni’s offer to take over driving.

Abderrahim, Abouda

Moni & Abderrahim, Restaurant Fruit de Mer, Abouda

Abouda

A little further on at 5 pm, we stopped at a small beach in Abouda to breathe in the fresh sea air after the heat of the day. Abderrahim could not resist the sight of the ocean, he put on his swimming trunks and jumped into the cool water! Thereafter we chose one of the beach restaurants, the Restaurant Fruit de Mer, and ordered a late lunch respectively an early dinner, but when the food was on the table, I couldn’t touch anything at all...

I lay down in the back of the car and Moni drove masterfully the remaining 150 km to Essaouira, which we reached deadbeat by 9 pm. We dropped Abderrahim off at the Bab Marrakech in the Medina and then drove to my place where I lay down to sleep terribly sick with a bucket next to the bed.
