400 km and 8 hours from Marrakech to the desert
Heute
Morgen ging der Wecker um 9 Uhr und wir machten uns bereit für unsere Reise in
die Wüste. Eine Stunde später genossen wir unser Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse des Riad Dar Najat (https://www.riaddarnajat.com) und eine weitere halbe Stunde später traf Abderrahim ein, der in einem Hotel
in der Nähe übernachtet hatte. Um 11 Uhr traten wir die ca. 8-stündige und 400
km lange Reise über den Atlas und durch das Draatal nach Tagounite an...
This morning the alarm clock went off at 9 am and we prepared for our journey into the desert. An hour later, we enjoyed breakfast on the roof terrace of Riad Dar Najat (https://www.riaddarnajat.com), and another half hour later Abderrahim arrived from a nearby hotel. At 11 am we started the approximately 8-hour's and 400-km long journey across the Atlas Mountains and through the Draa Valley to Tagounite...

Unterwegs
über den Atlas hatte es viel Verkehr, sehr wahrscheinlich kehrten viele Leute
vom grossen Fest zurück… Es war bereits 35 Grad als wir Marrakech verliessen
und auf dem Pass Tizi’n’Tichka (2260) war es nur gerade 10 Grad kühler, also immer
noch 25 Grad!
There was a lot of traffic on the way over the Atlas, I guess many people were returning from the big feast... It was already 35 centigrade when we left Marrakech and on the Tizi'n'Tichka pass (2260) it was only 10 centigrade cooler, so still 25 centigrade!

Auf dem Weg
nach Ait Ben Haddou machten wir einen kurzen Abstecher bei Abdul und seinen Kamelen, der mir das letzte Mal bei der Panne mit Mel & Reto geholfen hatte... und machten dann einen Mittagsrast im Restaurant Bilal mit herrlicher Aussicht
auf die oft verwendete Filmkulisse Ait
Ben Haddou. Im 20 km entfernten Ouarzazate befindet sich übrigens die
marokkanische Filmmetropole, wo Teile vieler bekannter Filme gedreht wurden.
On the way to Ait Ben Haddou we made a short stop to see Abdul and his camels, who had helped me with my car problem last time when I was there with Mel & Reto... Thereafter we had lunch at the restaurant Bilal with a great view of Ait Ben Haddou, which is often used in film sets. By the way, in Ouarzazate (20 km away) there is the Moroccan film metropolis, where parts of many famous movies were filmed.

Dann ging
es weiter über den Pass Tizi’n’Tinififft (1660) und dem Draatal entlang nach
Tagounite, das wir um 21 Uhr erreichten. Wir hatten seit Ait Ben Haddou 30
Grad, und das blieb es auch bis nach Tagounite.
Thereafter we crossed the pass Tizi'n'Tinififft (1660) and drove along the Draa Valley to Tagounite, where we arrived at 9 pm. Since Ait Ben Haddou we had 30 centigrade and this remained until Tagounite.

In
Tagounite erwartete uns schon Mouad mit einem herrlichen Abendessen. Wir
brachten all unser Gepäck ins Haus, richteten uns für die Nacht ein und liessen
den Abend mit dem Austausch von Neuigkeiten und Planen unseres Ausflugs morgen in
die Wüste ausklingen…

In Tagounite Mouad was already awaiting us with a wonderful dinner. We brought all our luggage into the house, installed ourselves for the night and let fade away the evening with exchanging news and planning our trip to the desert tomorrow...
